PICO Genesis enlighten III tattoo removal.

How does PICO enlighten III work?

PICO enlighten features extremely short and high-power picosecond laser pulses which efficiently and quickly break down the ink particles in tattoos.

enlighten uses a picosecond pulse which essentially creates a vibration effect in the skin, which then disrupts the pigment and gets taken by your body’s lymphatic system.

As enlighten uses both picosecond and nanosecond technology it is able to treat tattoos by breaking up different types of tattoo inks and different colours of ink. Because each pulse is so short there is no damage to the skin or surrounding tissue.

The system is able to independently adjust spot size and fluence in real-time calibration without delay. It is able to treat a broad range of spot sizes (2-8mm) and is achieving results not seen before by any tattoo removal method.

What can I expect during an enlighten session?

The tattoo removal treatments with PICO enlighten are very fast compared to traditional laser removal technologies.

We generally don’t require appointments longer than 30 – 45 minutes for all sizes of tattoos.

We recommend for patients to come earlier to their appointment so we can apply an effective topical anaesthetic cream 30-45 minutes prior to the treatment.

How many tattoo removal sessions will I need?

Every patient varies however, we generally say with tattoos we are looking anywhere from one to six treatments at eight week intervals.

Is there any discomfort?

Everyone’s pain threshold is different however we recommend application of a topical anaesthetic prior to treatment. This simply takes ‘the edge’ of the treatment.

Where to from here?

One of our dermal clinicians will assess your individual requirements with a pre-treatment consultation and tailor a program to achieve your desired result.

We will also be able to give you a price estimate once we see your tattoo. The size, shape, colour and age of the tattoo can all play a part in the treatment plan.  It is very difficult to give a price estimate without seeing your tattoo.

It may be possible to have both a consultation and your first treatment on the one day.

Our Geelong and Ballarat dermal clinicians are highly qualified with university degrees and trained specifically in the PICO enlighten III technology.

*Individual results and experience may vary. Any invasive procedure carries risks including infection, bleeding and bruising. Your therapist will discuss these risks, and how you can reduce them before and after treatment, in your consultation.
