Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis is a medical condition.
Sweating is the body’s normal response to cool itself. However, for some people the sweating is excessive and is more than required for the body to regulate temperature.
The cause of hyperhidrosis is largely unknown. However, we do know anxiety or excitement can play a part in worsening the condition as can certain foods and smells.
Excessive sweating can occur on parts of the body including the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, axilla and scalp.
How is hyperhidrosis treated?
There are several options to treat this, however at Australian Skin Face Body, we prefer a non- surgical approach and choose to use muscle relaxants.
Larger doses than that used for anti-wrinkle treatments are required. This procedure is often an effective treatment for sweaty palms and underarms, with results often lasting nine months. Some individuals find the treatment successful for up to 12 months.
A GP referral is required to see Mr Ian Holten. Please check with us if you are eligible for Medicare rebates.
*Individual results may vary. Any invasive procedure carries risks including infection, bleeding and bruising. At consultation, these risks, and how you can reduce them before and after treatment, will be discussed.
