Meet Fiona Priddle: Expert Dermal Clinician
At Australian Skin Face Body, we’re lucky to have an incredible team of passionate professionals who are dedicated to helping patients achieve their skin health goals.
One of those talented team members is Fiona Priddle, a dermal clinician and team leader for our Geelong and Ballarat clinics.
Fiona recently shared her insights and journey in the dermal industry through this engaging Q&A.
What inspired you to become a dermal clinician?
I’ve always been fascinated by makeup and skincare, but it wasn’t until I studied beauty therapies that I realised I wanted to dive deeper into understanding the skin. This led me to pursue a degree in Dermal Science, where I truly found my passion.
I wanted to know everything – how the skin functions, how ingredients and treatments affect it, and how to achieve clinically proven results for optimal skin health.
The best part of my work is seeing patients’ skin improve and watching their confidence soar – it makes it all worthwhile.
Where did you study, and how long was the course?
I completed my degree in Dermal Science at Victoria University in Melbourne.
Whilst working full-time, I studied part-time, so my degree took four years to complete.
I graduated in 2012, and it’s been an incredible journey ever since.
What does a typical day at ASFB look like for you?
I thrive in a busy environment!
My day often starts with emails, as I manage the dermal teams in both Ballarat and Geelong. I’m constantly liaising with skincare and device representatives about training, new products, and protocols.
From there, it’s a whirlwind of back-to-back client treatments, using different machines, techniques, and approaches tailored to each individual’s needs. Thankfully, I have an amazing support system like Dianne, who helps keep the day running smoothly. We end the day by setting up the rooms for the next morning – it’s a full but rewarding schedule.

What is your philosophy when it comes to skin health and helping patients achieve their goals?
For me, it’s all about healthy skin. When your skin is healthy and glowing, imperfections are less noticeable, and confidence naturally improves.
For example, when a patient is dealing with rosacea, the excess blood supply to the skin causes inflammation, sensitivity, and other issues like visible pores or thickened skin. By treating the vascular network through a combination of skincare and in-clinic treatments, we can normalise skin function and bring back that healthy glow.
What are some of the most common skin concerns you see in patients, and how do you address them?
We see a wide range of skin concerns at ASFB – from dehydration to more serious conditions requiring medical intervention. However, the most common concern we treat is rosacea.
Rosacea requires a multi-faceted approach, often involving both dermal clinicians and Mr Ian Holten. Treatments typically include lasers, such as PICO Genesis or vascular lasers, along with tailored skincare regimens to reduce redness and inflammation.
Are there any misconceptions about skin health or treatments that you wish more people understood?
One major misconception is that simply wearing sunscreen will completely stop pigmentation. While sunscreen is vital, sun damage from your teens and twenties can still affect your skin’s cells, contributing to pigmentation issues. To reduce pigment, sunscreen must be combined with active ingredients and consistent treatments.
Another myth is that one treatment will completely eliminate pigment or other skin concerns. Achieving and maintaining results requires commitment, consistency, and the right combination of skincare and treatments.
What role do lifestyle factors like diet, stress, and sleep play in maintaining healthy skin, and how do you educate patients about them?
Lifestyle factors play a huge role in skin health.
I always discuss this with patients when addressing their specific skin concerns. For instance, certain foods can trigger an inflammatory response in the gut, which can worsen conditions like rosacea or redness on the cheeks and nose. Stress and lack of sleep can also negatively affect the skin’s overall function and appearance.
Education is key to helping patients make better choices for their skin.
With the ever-evolving skincare industry, how do you stay updated on the latest technologies and treatments?
I stay connected to the industry by attending as many conferences as possible each year.
These range from cosmetic dermatology and laser events to non-surgical plastic surgery conferences.
I also have a great network within the dermal community where we share knowledge, new treatments, and research.
Professional development is a priority- I attend training sessions to learn new protocols for laser devices and skincare advancements.
Once a year, our entire dermal team at ASFB comes together to share insights and results, ensuring we’re always providing the best care for our patients.
What’s your favourite skin tip?
Consistency is key!
Achieving and maintaining great skin results is a lifelong journey, not a quick fix.
Your skin’s needs will change over time, but staying committed to a consistent skincare routine and treatments will deliver the best results.
What do you do in your spare time?
(Spare time? What’s that? Haha—just kidding!)
I love spending time with my family, going on camping adventures, and coaching my daughter’s netball team. I also enjoy catching up with friends, which may or may not include a sneaky cocktail!
Thanks Fi !
