Cosmo Forte Peel

Skin Peels tailored just for you.

Medical grade skin peels vary in strength and not all peels require downtime.

Skin peels work to regenerate and resurface the skin. A gentle peel can be perfect for rejuvenating the skin.

Australian Skin Face Body has a range of popular skin peels from Dermaceutic.

There’s four peels to tailor to your needs – Mask Peel, Milk Peel, Cosmo Peel and Mela (Spot) Peel.

How do skin peels work?

To understand how a chemical peel works we must first understand how our skin is structured. The skin is made up of three layers: epidermis, the outer layer, the dermis – the ‘living layer’ where components such as fibroblasts, collagen and elastin of the skin exist, and the hypodermis, the circulatory and fat layer of the skin.

On a cellular level, the skin has a natural turnover / renewal cycle which slows with age. This leads to the skin’s appearance looking lack lustre as collagen levels become depleted and the epidermis thins making the dermis more susceptible to UV exposure. This results in pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, textural changes and dryness of the skin.

To address the signs of skin aging, scientific studies have shown that in treating the cell turnover, by using certain ingredients and treatments, skin therapists can stimulate the epidermis and the dermis.

Chemical peels use both natural and synthesised ingredients to bring about a chemical form of exfoliation where the skin sloughs off naturally rather than having to use abrasive or mechanical techniques to remove it. All peels differ in formulation hence their action on the skin may differ but it’s important to understand that the workings of a peel occur on a cellular level to stimulate certain functions and bring about certain results. All the acids and ingredients used within a chemical peel will bring about some form of chemical response on or within the skin.

Peels for ageing skin

The most impacting element in skin ageing is sun exposure, hence the need to use a good quality sunscreen – everyday. Other contributing factors include hormonal changes and environmental elements such as pollution, smoking and stress.

A skin peel can boost production of collagen and elastin by promoting cell renewal. Patients are getting great results from the new Milk peel for fine lines, dull complexion and loss of skin tone.

Peels for pigmentation

With a peel, the skin’s superficial layer which contains pigmentation and sun-spots is removed and left to regenerate a new layer with a more regular pigmentation. The Mela peel may assist with pigment spots, melasma and post inflammatory pigmentation.

Peels for acne

Teenage and adult acne is triggered by a retention of sebum, an anomaly in the removal of keratin cells and the spreading of bacteria, which causes an inflammation of the pilosebaceous follicle. It is most often associated with oily skin.

Active ingredients (salicylic & glycolic) in the Mask peel work by purifying the epidermis, regulating oil and sebum production and tightening the pores.

The Australian Skin Face Body dermal team will recommend the most appropriate peel for you after consultation and analysis of your skin.

For best results, a skin peel is usually combined with LED therapy.

Our dermal team will recommend the most appropriate peel and home-care regimen after consultation and analysis of your skin.
